LMS hosting

Course hosting sized for video from the first plan

Choose WordPress with LearnDash or Tutor, or choose Moodle. Either way you get storage sized for course video rather than for a brochure site, and student pages that are never served from a cache.

Why a course site is not just a website

Two things break online courses on ordinary hosting. The first is video: lessons are large files, and a plan sized for a blog runs out of room part-way through the first cohort. The second is caching. Ordinary hosting serves everyone the same cached page, which is exactly right for a landing page and exactly wrong for a student's progress, quiz results and next lesson. These plans start at 50 GB rather than 25, and per-student pages are served fresh, with a Redis object cache doing the work instead.

Both stacks, because they suit different people

LearnDash and Tutor are WordPress plugins, so if you already run a WordPress site and want courses alongside your pages, posts and payments, that is the shorter route. Moodle is a dedicated learning platform with cohorts, gradebooks and standards support built in, which is usually what schools, universities and corporate training teams already know. Neither is a better grade of the other, so we sell both rather than pushing you at whichever one we find easier to run.

Included with every LMS plan

  • Storage sized for course video from the entry plan up
  • Per-student pages served uncached, so progress and grades are never stale
  • Redis object cache for the queries an LMS runs over and over
  • Free migration from your current host, and free SSL

Questions people ask before they buy

Should I pick WordPress or Moodle?

If you already have a WordPress site and want courses as part of it, pick WordPress with LearnDash or Tutor. If you are running structured cohorts with gradebooks, or your teaching staff already know Moodle, pick Moodle. You are not locked in either way — we will migrate you free of charge if you change your mind.

Will my course videos actually fit?

The entry plan is 50 GB, which is roughly 25 to 50 hours of compressed lesson video, and the plans go to 1 TB. If your library is larger than that, or you need several quality levels for students on slower connections, host the video with a streaming provider and embed it — that is the right answer at every scale and we will say so rather than sell you storage.

Why does caching matter for a course site?

A cache hands the same stored page to everyone who asks for it. On a course site that means a student can be shown somebody else's progress bar, or their own from an hour ago. We keep per-student pages out of the page cache and use a Redis object cache instead, which speeds up the database work an LMS does without ever showing one student another student's page.

Can I sell courses and take payment?

Yes. LearnDash and Tutor both handle payments through WooCommerce or their own checkouts, and Moodle supports enrolment payments. We host it; the payment relationship is between you and your provider.

Do you migrate my existing courses?

Yes, free, on every plan. Course content, student accounts and progress come across together — a migration that moves the lessons but loses who completed what is not a migration.
