Zinn® Private Cloud

Zinn® Private Cloud — a whole machine, and root on it

Machines we source and run ourselves rather than resell. You get root over the whole box: no control panel, no managed layer, nothing installed that you did not ask for. What a machine costs depends on the city it runs in, so every figure here is the lowest we sell that size at.

Plans and pricing

Eight sizes, from one core to sixteen. The price shown against each is the cheapest city that size is sold in — the same machine costs noticeably more in Singapore and the United States than in Europe, so you see the exact figure for the city you choose when you order.

Questions people ask before they buy

Is Zinn® Private Cloud managed?

No, and that is the product rather than a gap in it. You get root on the whole machine with nothing of ours running on top — no control panel, no agent, no managed layer. Backups, updates and patching are yours. If you would rather they were ours, Zinn® Cloud is the managed range and the same dashboard runs both.

Why does the same size cost different amounts in different cities?

Because it costs us different amounts. The same machine costs several times more in Singapore or the United States than in Europe, so each city is priced on its own rather than averaged into one figure that would overcharge most customers. Every price on this page is the cheapest city for that size, which is why it is written as a “from” — you see the exact figure for the city you pick.

Can I send email from a Zinn® Private Cloud machine?

Not directly on port 25: outbound SMTP is closed on this range, as it is at most providers, because an open port 25 on a fresh machine is what turns a network into a spam source. Send through our relay on port 587 with your own credentials — the same route an application would normally use — and your mail goes out authenticated.

Can I order one straight away?

You verify your account once, before your first machine on this range. It is a one-off step rather than a per-order one, and it exists because a machine with root access and no panel above it is exactly what abuse looks for. Everything after that is ordinary ordering.

Is the city I want always available?

Not always. Stock moves, and a size can be unbuildable in one city for a day and back the next. The cities listed against a size are the ones we sell it in; what can actually be built is checked live at the moment you order, so you are never sold a machine that cannot be created.

Do you run anything on the machine?

Nothing. We run the network, the storage and the console; everything above the operating system is yours, including what you install and who you let in. That is what unmanaged means here, and it is why the range is priced the way it is.
