Not offset after the fact, and not a pledge for 2030. The electricity our hosting runs on is renewable today, across every product we sell.
What we can actually show you
Each of these is a fact about how our hosting is powered and operated, not a target. We have kept the list to things a sceptical reader can check.
- 100% renewable electricity across all our hosting

- Hydropower on the servers we own and operate ourselves

What we will not claim
We do not describe our hosting as carbon neutral or climate neutral, because it is not. Renewable electricity is a different claim from net-zero emissions, and the distance between the two is where most greenwashing lives. When the second one becomes true we will say so, and show the working.
Why this is worth doing at all
Data centres use a great deal of electricity, and increasingly a great deal of water. Choosing renewable supply, efficient facilities and air cooling is the part of that we control. Running hardware for eight years instead of three is the other part, and it matters more than most people expect.
Questions people ask before they buy
Is Zinn Digital hosting carbon neutral?
No, and we will not say it is. Our servers run on 100% renewable electricity, which is a real and verifiable claim; carbon neutrality is a broader one that we cannot yet substantiate, so we do not make it.
What does 100% renewable actually mean here?
The electricity supplied to the facilities our servers run in comes from renewable generation — hydropower on our own estate, and renewable supply across our shared hosting platform.
How efficient are the data centres?
They run at a power usage effectiveness of 1.1 to 1.2. A PUE of 1.0 would mean every watt reached the computers themselves, so this is close to the practical limit.
How much water does the cooling use?
On our own estate, none. Those facilities are air-cooled, and run on outside air alone for up to 98% of the year. Data centre water use is becoming the story that electricity was, so it is worth stating plainly.
Can I verify any of this independently?
Yes. Sites on our shared platform pass the Green Web Foundation's sustainability checks, which you can run yourself against any domain. Our own facilities are EMAS certified under the EU's Eco-Management and Audit Scheme.
What happens to old hardware?
It runs for about eight years — far longer than the industry norm — through repair and reuse, and is resold rather than scrapped when it finally comes out of service. Waste heat from those facilities is recovered to heat buildings.
