AI agents (MCP)

Zinn® Cache for AI agents

Your WordPress site is its own MCP server. An AI assistant signs in as a WordPress user with an application password and can do what that user may do with Zinn® Cache — nothing more.

18 actions: 6 free, 12 in Pro.

Developer reference: every action, its REST route and its parameters

Set it up in three steps

  1. Check the switch

You need WordPress 6.9 or later and Zinn® Cache 1.8.0 or later. In the plugin's settings, "Allow AI agents (MCP)" is on unless you turned it off.

  2. Create an application password

In WordPress, open Users, then Profile, and add an application password named after your AI app. Copy it: WordPress shows it once.

  3. Add the site to your AI app

Use your WordPress username, the application password and your site's connection address:

    https://example.com/wp-json/zinn-cache/v1/mcp

Configuration for popular AI apps

Every app below talks to your site through the official WordPress proxy, @automattic/mcp-wordpress-remote. Replace the address, username and password with yours.

Other apps

Any app that supports MCP servers over standard input and output can use the same command and settings. Apps that only connect to remote HTTP servers can reach the connection address directly with the same username and application password. ChatGPT is the exception for now: it connects to MCP servers only by OAuth sign-in, so it cannot use an application password.

What an AI agent can do

Everything the plugin's own screens can do. Actions marked Pro need a Zinn® Cache Pro licence.

ActionWhat it doesEdition
Clean up the database (Pro)Removes, in the background, the kinds of clutter switched on in the settings. What is removed cannot be brought back.Pro edition
Convert all existing images (Pro)Starts converting the media library's images to the modern formats switched on in the settings, in the background.Pro edition
Read the cache analytics (Pro)Returns the object cache's hit rate and traffic for the last hours (hours, up to 720), its slowest commands, and which plugins miss the cache most.Pro edition
Read the diagnostics reportReturns the diagnostics report support asks for: versions, server limits, the cache state and recent errors. It holds no passwords or keys.Free edition
Read the image conversion progress (Pro)Returns how far converting (or removing) the images has got.Pro edition
Read the Cache Pro settings (Pro)Returns every Cache Pro setting (warm-up, images, scripts and styles, database clean-up, smart purging, the finder). Secrets are never returned.Pro edition
Read the cache settingsReturns every cache setting. The Redis password is never returned, only whether one is saved.Free edition
Read the slow-query finder (Pro)Returns the slowest database queries and outgoing calls the finder has seen, with the plugin or theme that made each one.Pro edition
Read the cache statusReturns whether the page cache and the object cache are on and working, how many pages are cached, and the object cache's connection and hit numbers.Free edition
Read the warm-up progress (Pro)Returns whether the warm-up is running, how many pages it has visited and how many failed.Pro edition
Preview the database clean-up (Pro)Counts what a clean-up would remove, per kind (revisions, drafts, spam, expired temporary data and the like). Nothing is removed.Pro edition
Purge the cacheDiscards cached pages: everything (all: true), some addresses (urls) or everything tagged (tags). Pages are rebuilt as visitors arrive.Free edition
Remove all converted images (Pro)Deletes every converted copy of the images in the background; the originals stay.Pro edition
Put the cache settings back to their defaultsPuts every cache setting back to its default, as the Reset button does. The saved Redis password is removed too.Free edition
Clear the slow-query findings (Pro)Forgets every slow query and slow call found so far, and the finder starts again.Pro edition
Change the Cache Pro settings (Pro)Changes the Cache Pro settings you send (settings: key to value) and keeps the rest. Each value is checked exactly as on the Cache Pro screen; an unknown key is refused.Pro edition
Change the cache settingsChanges the settings you send and keeps the rest (page cache, how long pages stay cached, the object cache and its Redis connection, purging rules and exclusions). Values are checked and corrected exactly as on the Cache screen.Free edition
Warm the cache (Pro)Starts visiting every page in the sitemaps in the background, so visitors get cached pages. Follow it with zinn-cache/get-warmup-progress.Pro edition

Safe by design

Each action checks the same WordPress permission as the plugin's own screen, for the exact page or post it touches. A subscriber cannot connect at all.

Application passwords can be revoked at any time under Users, Profile, without changing your normal password.

Turn "Allow AI agents (MCP)" off and the actions and the connection address disappear from the site.

Pages an agent changes keep their WordPress revisions, so any change can be undone.

Hosted with Zinn Digital®?

If Zinn Digital® hosts the site, our own MCP server can use these actions for you without an application password: connect your AI app to the Zinn Digital® MCP server and use wordpress_abilities_list and wordpress_ability_run.
