Zinn® SEO: Sitemaps

What Zinn® SEO does for sitemaps, and which of it is free.

What it does

  • XML sitemaps that stream — A sitemap index and one set of files per content type, written a few hundred pages at a time straight to disk, so a site with a million pages never runs out of memory building them.
  • Fast on any size of site — Every page of the sitemap is read with a cursor, never an offset, so the last file of a million posts costs what the first one does.
  • Images in the sitemap — The featured image, a product's gallery and the images in the text, read for a whole page of posts in one query, never one image at a time.
  • Pre-built, rebuilt only where it changed — Sitemap files are written in the background and sent as files. When a page changes, only the file that lists it is rebuilt.
  • Every language in the sitemap — With Tranzly, each language gets its own sitemap files and every page lists its translations, so search engines show the right language to each searcher.
  • Honest last-changed dates — A save that changes nothing a reader sees keeps the date the content last changed, so search engines learn to trust your dates.
  • Leave out what should not be found — Content types, taxonomies or single pages left out by choice; pages set to noindex, or pointing to another page as the one to index, are left out by themselves.
  • A readable sitemap in the browser — Open the sitemap in a browser and it shows as a clear table in your language, light or dark, with nothing loaded from anywhere else.
  • Shop products done right — Product variations never appear as pages of their own, hidden products stay out, and you choose whether products out of stock are listed.
  • Sitemap health — When the sitemap was last built, how long it took, how many addresses each part lists, file sizes, and anything a search engine would refuse.
  • Video, Google News and HTML sitemaps (Pro) — Videos in your posts listed with their thumbnails, a Google News sitemap of the last two days, and a page of links for people with a shortcode (that part is free).
  • One sitemap for a whole network (Pro) — On multisite, the main site lists every site's sitemap files in one index.

Free or Pro

A feature marked (Pro) needs a Pro licence; (Agency plan) needs the Agency plan. Everything else is in the free edition.
