Zinn® SEO how-to: Move from Yoast, Rank Math or another SEO plugin
Step by step in Zinn® SEO: Bring your titles, descriptions and settings over from your current SEO plugin, check every page and switch over safely.
Move from Yoast, Rank Math or another SEO plugin
Bring your titles, descriptions and settings over from your current SEO plugin, check every page and switch over safely.
Open Move from another SEO plugin — Go to SEO, Move from another SEO plugin. Zinn® SEO lists the SEO plugins it found on your site: Yoast SEO, Rank Math, All in One SEO, SEOPress, The SEO Framework, Slim SEO, Squirrly SEO, SmartCrawl, SureRank, WP Meta SEO, Premium SEO Pack, five redirect plugins and two structured data plugins. Each move was tested on a real site with every setting changed.
Check your site first — Under Before you start, press Check this site. You see the plugin you move from, any page cache in front of your pages and a multilingual plugin. Nothing changes. If something stops the move, fix it first; your old plugin keeps working.
See what would come over — In step 1, See what would come over, press Count. You get a count of titles, descriptions, settings and redirects. Nothing is changed yet. Data from paid editions is read too, but those moves have not been tested on a real site: Yoast SEO Premium's redirects, extra focus phrases and social templates, Schema Pro's structured data types, and Link Whisper's keyword links (these become automatic links in Zinn® SEO Pro). Check those pages with Compare every page before you switch.
Copy it into Zinn® SEO — In step 2, start the copy. It runs in the background and your old plugin keeps working. Titles, descriptions, robots settings, sharing tags, structured data, breadcrumbs, sitemap choices, robots.txt rules and llms.txt come over, in every language. Finer choices come over too: a post's own card size on X, page numbers added to descriptions, dates written the old plugin's way (March 1st), your search page's sharing picture and article pictures in Google's shapes. Everything copied is then read back from your database before you can compare.
Compare every page — Next, compare every page. Each page is fetched as your old plugin shows it and set beside what Zinn® SEO would show, and any difference is listed for you. Some differences are improvements, for example WooCommerce's cart staying out of search where the old plugin had dropped that. Accept the ones you want.
Switch the old plugin off — When the pages say the same, one button switches the old plugin off. Your key pages, robots.txt, sitemap, llms.txt and language links are read just before and right after; if anything is lost, the old plugin goes straight back on and the move is undone. Nothing of it is deleted.
Empty your page cache — Afterwards, the page caches Zinn® SEO knows are emptied. If it names one it cannot reach, such as your host's, empty that one yourself straight away.
