The Zinn® Connector plugin
Pair a WordPress site we do not host, so scheduled articles publish to it. What the pairing code does and what access we get.
The Connector lets Zinn Digital® publish scheduled articles to a WordPress site we do not host. You install it, paste one code, and the site appears in your Zinn® dashboard.
Pairing, start to finish
- In your Zinn® dashboard, open the site list and choose Connect an existing site. You
- On the WordPress site, install the Connector and go to Settings → Zinn® Connector.
- Paste the code and save.
get a pairing code that is valid for a short time.
The screen then shows Connected. If it does not, the two usual causes are a code that has expired — generate another, they are free — and a site that blocks REST API requests, which a security plugin sometimes does.
What we actually get
The plugin creates an ordinary WordPress application password for a dedicated user and sends it to us. That is the whole credential. It is the same mechanism you would use if you typed an application password in by hand; the plugin only saves you doing it and picks a sensible scope.
You can see it under Users → the connector user → Application Passwords, and revoking it there cuts us off immediately. Deactivating the plugin does the same thing.
What it does not do
It is not a second way to publish and it does not open a channel we can push anything through. Publishing goes through the same REST endpoint an application password typed by hand would use, and it is driven from our side by a workflow that will not post the same article twice.
Backups
The Connector also takes a scheduled backup of the site so a connected site is not one you could lose. It runs hourly and reports into your dashboard. If the site is large, the first run takes a while and later runs are much smaller.
Disconnecting
Deactivate the plugin, or revoke the application password. Either is enough, and neither deletes anything on the site.
