The Zinn® Backups Pro add-on

What the paid add-on to Zinn® Backups adds — schedules, several storages, incremental and encrypted backups — how to start a trial, and what happens when a licence ends.

Zinn® Backups Pro is a paid add-on to the free Zinn® Backups plugin. It installs next to Zinn® Backups — it needs it, and does not replace it — and makes your backups run on their own. It is not included with Zinn® hosting, which already backs up every site we host daily; Pro is for keeping your own extra copies, on any host.

Buying it, and the free trial

Licences are annual, for one site, five sites or unlimited sites, with a 14-day free trial and no card needed. Start the trial or buy on https://zinndigital.com/wordpress-plugins/zinn-backups-pro. Freemius handles the checkout, the licence, renewals, refunds and Pro's updates.

Installing it

  1. Install and activate the free Zinn® Backups plugin first.
  2. Install the Zinn® Backups Pro zip from your Freemius e-mail (**Plugins → Add Plugin → Upload
  3. Plugin**) and activate it.

  4. Open Zinn® Backups → Pro licence and enter your licence key, or start the trial there.

What it adds

  • Several storages at once — up to ten, on the Storage tab. Each backup goes to all of
  • them, so losing one storage never loses the backup.

  • Schedules — hourly, twice a day, daily, weekly or monthly, from the hour you choose, on the
  • Settings tab. WordPress runs schedules when the site has visitors; on a quiet site, a real cron job calling wp-cron.php keeps them on time.

  • Incremental backups — after a full backup only changed files are packed, and a full backup
  • is made again every N backups.

  • Retention — keep the newest N backups and/or everything from the last N days. A backup that
  • a kept incremental backup builds on is always kept.

  • Encryption — every file is encrypted with your passphrase before it leaves the server.
  • Write the passphrase down: without it nobody, Zinn Digital® included, can restore those backups.

  • Copy to another site — each backup gets a Copy to another site button that makes a
  • code; paste it on the other site under Import & migrate. The code works for a few hours and anyone who has it can copy that backup, so treat it like a password.

  • E-mail notices when a backup fails, or after every backup, and a white label that
  • renames the plugin in wp-admin.

When a licence ends

Schedules and the other Pro features stop, and nothing is deleted. Restoring is part of the free plugin, so every backup you made can still be restored — an encrypted one with its passphrase.
