Why a new listing shows no authority figures yet

A listing with no Trust Flow is not a listing with a Trust Flow of zero. Here is the difference, why we keep it, and how long you wait.

A listing you have just created will often show no authority figures at all. That is normal and it is deliberate.

Three different states, and we never confuse them

Not measured yet. You have given us the site, and our next measurement run has not reached it. The figures appear when it does.

Measured, and the numbers are low. We looked, the index has the domain, and this is what it says. That is a real reading and you can act on it.

Not in the index. We looked and the backlink index has never seen this domain. We say so rather than showing you zeros.

Why we will not show a zero we did not read

A zero and a blank look almost the same on a page and mean opposite things. A zero says "we checked, and this domain has nothing" - which for a domain being sold is close to an accusation. A blank says "we have not checked yet".

If we filled blanks with zeros, a brand-new listing would look worthless for as long as it took the schedule to come round, and neither the seller nor the buyer would have any way to tell that apart from a genuinely dead domain. So we never write a figure we did not read.

How long it takes

Measurement runs on a schedule rather than when you press save. Each reading costs us a metered lookup with our data provider, so measuring on every page view would mean paying for search-engine crawlers to look at your listing.

If the figures still do not appear

Check the address you entered. We measure exactly what you gave us - if you listed a subdomain, we measure the subdomain, never its parent. That is on purpose: the score has to belong to the thing being sold. A blog on a big brand's domain does not inherit the brand's authority, and a listing that implied otherwise would be selling something that does not exist.
