What a dedicated server gives you
When a server of your own is worth it, what comes with it, and what you take on.
A dedicated server is a machine that runs only your sites. Shared hosting is faster to start with and cheaper; a server is what you move to when you have outgrown it.
The three reasons people move
Resource certainty. Nobody else's traffic spike is your slow afternoon. The CPU and memory on the invoice are the CPU and memory you get.
Room for many sites. Past a few dozen sites the arithmetic changes and a server is cheaper per site than a plan.
Software you choose. A control panel, a specific PHP build, a queue worker, a database version — things a shared plan cannot offer safely.
What comes with it
- Provisioning, the operating system, and our agent, installed and monitored.
- Backups on the same schedule and the same restore controls as any site.
- The same dashboard: sites on your server look and behave like sites on a plan.
- Our monitoring, and a ticket that reaches somebody who can log in.
What you take on
You are choosing the size. A server that is too small is slower than the plan you left, and scaling it is a planned move rather than an instant one. Servers → your server → Metrics shows CPU, memory and disk over time, which is the evidence for the next size up.
⭐ You do not have to move everything. Sites can live on a plan and on your server at the same time, and moving one across is a supported operation that takes minutes.
