When trial sites and sites that never went live are deleted

How long an ended trial's sites are kept, what happens to a site that was never set up successfully, and how to keep either.

Sites from a free trial

When a free trial ends without a plan being chosen, its sites go offline but nothing is deleted. They are kept for 60 days after the trial ended. If you still have not chosen a plan by then, they are permanently deleted.

To keep them, choose a plan for the same product at any time before that date: the sites come back online and stay.

Sites that never went live

A site that was created but never set up successfully — it still reads Pending or Failed in your sites list — is deleted once it has stayed that way for 30 days. A site that has ever been online is never deleted by this rule.

To keep it, try setting it up again from your sites list, or contact support and we will help. Accounts with an active plan are not affected: a failed site there is ours to fix.

The warnings

We email you 14 days and 3 days before anything is deleted, in your own language, and nothing is deleted sooner than 14 days after the first email. A deleted site keeps its backup for the usual restore window, so you can still bring it back from Sites → Show deleted sites while that backup exists.

Sites on a cancelled or unpaid plan follow a different rule: see missed payments, suspension and clean-up.
