Migrating a site from a backup archive

A cPanel or Duplicator backup, any zip or tar.gz with its database, or a Zinn® Migrate package.

When to use this

When you already have a backup, or when your old host gives you no way in that we can use.

What works

  • A Zinn® Migrate package — install our free plugin on the old WordPress site, open
  • Tools → Move to Zinn®, press Build the package, and copy the private link.

  • A cPanel full backup or a Duplicator package (zip).
  • Any zip or tar.gz of the site that includes its .sql database dump.

How

Open the site, go to Restore & import → Restore or import content, choose An archive of an existing site, paste the link and start. The archive is checked for size against the site's disk space before anything is written.

⚠️ Treat a package link like a password — anyone with it can download the whole site. Delete the package on the old site as soon as the migration has finished.

It is free, and there is no limit

Every migration is free, on every plan, for as many sites as you have. Doing it yourself is the fastest way. If you would rather we did it, open the site, go to Restore & import, and use Or have us do it for you — free: an engineer starts within 72 hours, and that is free too. See Asking us to migrate a site for you.
