Moving a site to another Zinn® account

Handing a site to a client or to another agency, with its history, without a download.

Sites → your site → Transfer, or the Transfers screen for several at once.

What it does

Moves the site — files, database, domains, backups and history — from your organisation to another one here. Nothing is re-uploaded, so a large site moves in minutes rather than hours, and the receiving account gets the backup history rather than starting from empty.

What the other side has to do

Accept it. They get an email and a prompt in their own panel. Until they accept, the site is still yours and still serving; nothing is in limbo.

Billing

The site stops counting against your plan and starts counting against theirs from the moment they accept. Neither side is charged twice for the same period. If their plan has no room, the transfer tells them before they accept rather than failing after.

Domains

A domain registered here moves with the site if you include it. One registered elsewhere and merely pointed here does not — that is between them and their registrar, and the site keeps working either way as long as the DNS is unchanged.

When to use this instead of a download

Whenever both sides are on this platform. A download-and-reupload loses the backup history, costs an outage, and is the step where a database import goes wrong.

Agencies handing a finished site to a client should use this, then remove themselves from the client's team. The client owns it outright and nothing is left pointing back at you.
