Creating your first site

What each choice on the new-site screen means, and what you get in the first minute.

A new site is live in about a minute, before you have pointed a domain at it.

What you are choosing

The stack. WordPress, WooCommerce, plain PHP, Node or a static build. WordPress and WooCommerce arrive installed, updated and with our cache plugin already in place — there is no five-minute install afterwards.

Where it runs. Pick the location nearest your visitors. Moving a site to a different location later is a supported operation and takes minutes, so this is not a decision you are stuck with.

Which plan pays for it. The site counts against that plan's site, storage and bandwidth allowance. Billing → Usage shows what you have left before you create it.

What you get immediately

  • A working address of the form something.zinnsites.com, with a valid certificate.
  • An admin login for the application, shown once on the screen and then only through
  • Sites → your site → Credentials.

  • Backups from the first night.

Then point a domain at it

Open the site, go to Domains, and either register a new one or connect one you already own. The certificate for the real domain is issued automatically once DNS resolves, usually within a few minutes.

You do not need to wait for the domain to start work. Build on the temporary address and attach the domain when you are ready; nothing about the site changes when you do.
