How the Site Cleaner works

Clean unused plugins, database junk, caches and logs on every website on your account for $12.99 a month or $119.99 a year. Backed up first; scanning is free.

The Site Cleaner finds what slows a website down or wastes its space, and removes it safely. One subscription covers every website on your account: $12.99 a month or $119.99 a year (US dollars; the checkout shows the price in your currency, plus any tax). Scanning is free for every customer, so you can see what would be cleaned before you buy.

What it cleans

On WordPress websites:

  • Unused plugins and themes — plugins that are switched off and themes that are not in use.
  • The active theme, its parent theme and one default theme are always kept, and our own plugins are never offered for removal.

  • Leftovers of plugins you removed — their database tables, settings and scheduled tasks.
  • Database clean-up — old revisions (the last 5 of every post and page are
  • kept), automatic drafts and trashed posts older than 7 days, spam and trashed comments, expired temporary values, details of things that no longer exist, finished background tasks, and giving back unused space inside the tables.

  • Plugin log tables — visitor and security logs some plugins keep. These are only emptied
  • if you tick them.

  • Junk files — cache folders (they are rebuilt when needed), old backup archives left in
  • the website by backup plugins, debug and error logs, and unfinished update files.

On Joomla, Drupal, PrestaShop, OpenCart, Grav, MediaWiki websites it removes the cache and temporary files the application rebuilds by itself, its logs, and error logs and crash dumps. Other websites get the error-log and crash-dump clean-up.

Safe by design

  1. Before anything is removed, the website's database is backed up and **every file that
  2. will go is archived**.

  3. After the clean, the website's home page is checked. If it answers worse than before,
  4. everything is put back automatically — database and files — and nothing is lost.

  5. You can undo a clean yourself for 7 days: press Undo beside it.

How to use it

  1. Open Sites, choose the website, then open Software and find Site Cleaner.
  2. Press Scan this website. In a minute or two you see every item that could be cleaned,
  3. with its size.

  4. Untick anything you want to keep, then press Clean selected items.

Cleaning automatically

With the add-on you can set a website to be cleaned every day, week or month. A scheduled clean removes the items ticked on the card, with the same backup first; items you untick are never touched.

If a payment is missed

Cleaning and schedules pause while a payment is overdue and start again on their own once it is paid. Scanning stays free.
