How hourly backups work

Add a backup every hour to a website for $1.50 a month. The last 48 hours are kept, on top of the nightly backups.

Every website we host is backed up automatically every night, and each nightly backup is kept for as long as your plan says. If your website changes a lot during the day — a shop taking orders, a site you edit often — you can add hourly backups to it for $1.50 a month per website (US dollars; the checkout shows the price in your currency, plus any tax).

What you get

  • A backup of the website's files and database every hour.
  • The last 48 hours of hourly backups are kept, so you can go back to any hour of the
  • last two days.

  • Your nightly backups carry on exactly as before. Hourly backups are added on top; they never
  • replace a nightly one.

How to turn them on

  1. Open Sites, choose the website, then open Backups.
  2. Press Turn on hourly backups. You pay for it in the same window.
  3. The first hourly backup runs within the hour. Each one appears in the backup list with the
  4. label Hourly.

Restoring an hourly backup

Hourly backups are restored the same way as any other backup: on the website's Backups page, press Restore beside the backup you want. A restore replaces the website's files and database with that copy, so we take a backup of the current site first.

Stopping hourly backups

On the same Backups page, press Stop renewing. Hourly backups keep running until the end of the month you paid for, and we do not charge for them again. The hourly backups already taken are kept for their full 48 hours, and your nightly backups are not affected. Stopping needs the permission to manage payments on your account.

If a payment is missed

Hourly backups pause while a payment is overdue and start again on their own once it is paid. Nothing already backed up is deleted early, and your nightly backups continue as your plan allows.

Which websites can have them

Any website we host whose hosting can be backed up. Websites hosted elsewhere are backed up with the separate backup plans for external sites.
