How to create a site when you do not have a domain yet

Choose "No domain yet" and your site gets a free address with HTTPS, ready in minutes. Move it onto your own domain whenever you like; the free address keeps redirecting.

You do not need a domain to start. A new site can run on a free address we give it, so you can build it, try it and show it to people first, and add your own domain when you are ready. This is how most free trials start.

Create the site

  1. Open Sites and press Add a site (on a free trial, press Create my trial site).
  2. Under Which domain will this site use?, choose No domain yet.
  3. Choose what to build (for example WordPress) and press Next, then Create site.

Your site gets its own address on zinnpreview.com, for example t-1a2b3c4d5e6f.zinnpreview.com, with HTTPS from the start. It is ready in a few minutes and is shown on the site's page.

Move it onto your own domain later

  1. Open the site and go to Domains.
  2. In Change this site's domain, type your domain and confirm.
  3. Point your domain at us as the screen shows (it lists the exact records or nameservers).

The site moves onto your domain, and the free address keeps redirecting visitors to it, so links you already shared keep working.

Good to know

  • The free address is for building and testing. Search engines are told not to index it, so
  • move to your own domain before you launch publicly.

  • You can buy a domain from us under Domains and use it the same way.
  • Nothing about the free address costs extra; the site uses one site slot of your plan or trial.
