AI Move: what we need from you

The access that makes an AI Move work, in order of preference, and what to have ready.

An AI Move needs one way in to your current host. Give more than one if you can: we use the one that can move the most of what you asked for, and SSH wins a tie.

Ways in, best first

  • SSH or SFTP — a hostname, username and a password or private key. The fastest and most
  • complete route. Many hosts switch it on in their control panel.

  • A control panel login — cPanel, Plesk or DirectAdmin. Lets us read mailboxes and DNS
  • records as well as the site.

  • FTP — files only; add a database login too if the site has a database.
  • A WordPress admin login (optional) — helps when a host gives you nothing else.

What else to have ready

  • The domain being moved and every site address you want moved.
  • What to move: files, databases, mailboxes, DNS records, other sites on the same account.
  • The best time to switch over, your time zone and a contact.
  • If you move email: a control panel login usually lets us copy the mailboxes. Where it does
  • not, the ticket asks for each mailbox's password through the secure form.

If anything is missing, the AI asks on the ticket — exactly what failed and what to send — and carries on by itself once you answer. See AI Move: your logins and safety for how we hold them.
