Store migration
Shopify to BigCommerce migration
Moving from Shopify to BigCommerce is the moment to get the shop you actually want. The risk is the URLs, and that is the part we take off you.
Price your move
Your price is worked out for your exact store and the options you choose. Moving onto our hosting is the simplest — we build the new store and look after it afterwards — but you can move to any platform.
What we move from Shopify
A specialist runs the migration and checks it. You keep trading on Shopify until the day you switch.
- Products, with variants, options, pricing, stock levels, categories and images.
- Customer accounts with their addresses and order history, and their passwords where the source platform releases them.
- Orders with line items, totals, taxes and statuses, so your reporting and your accounts still reconcile.
- Blog posts, pages, reviews and navigation.
- Media, re-uploaded to the new site rather than hot-linked back to a store you are about to close.
What “no SEO loss” actually means here
Your Shopify URLs will not survive the move to BigCommerce — the two platforms build addresses differently. What survives is the ranking, provided every old address points at its new one.
- Every old URL mapped to its new one and served as a 301, so the links and rankings you already have keep working.
- Canonical tags checked on the new site, so two addresses for one page cannot split your authority.
- A fresh sitemap generated and resubmitted, so the new URLs are found in days rather than months.
- Product, review and article structured data carried across and validated, so rich results and AI answer engines still recognise your pages.
- A check against your own pages before handover — not a script that reports success and walks away.
How a Shopify to BigCommerce migration runs
- You choose Shopify and BigCommerce, tell us roughly how big your store is, and see your price straight away. No discovery phase, no hourly billing.
- We take a read-only copy of your Shopify data and build the BigCommerce store alongside your live shop — on our hosting where we can, or in the BigCommerce account you already have.
- We map every old Shopify URL to its new BigCommerce one and load the redirects, then check the canonical tags, the sitemap and the structured data.
- You walk the new store and tell us what is wrong. We fix it before anything goes live.
- You choose when to switch the DNS. Your customers see the new BigCommerce shop; anyone arriving on an old Shopify link is redirected to the right page.
What we will not claim
We will not tell you your Shopify theme can be moved to BigCommerce — it cannot, on any platform, by anybody. We will not promise your rankings will improve. And where Shopify refuses to release something, we will tell you before you pay rather than after. What we do promise is that no customer arriving on an old link finds a dead page.
Questions people ask before they buy
Is a Shopify to BigCommerce migration safe for my SEO?
Yes, if the redirects are done. Your Shopify URLs change when you move to BigCommerce, and a page whose address changes with no redirect looks to Google like a page that was deleted. We map every one of them and serve a 301, which tells search engines the page moved and carries its ranking with it. Our system refuses to mark the job finished until that map exists.
Will my Shopify shop go down during the move?
No. Your Shopify store keeps trading while we build the BigCommerce one beside it. The only change your customers see is at the DNS switch, which takes minutes and happens when you say so.
What does a Shopify to BigCommerce migration cost?
It depends on the size of your store and the options you choose, and you see the exact figure before you order — use the calculator on this page. Agencies typically charge thousands for the same job and want a paid discovery phase first; we do not.
Do my Shopify customers have to reset their passwords?
Only if Shopify will not release the password hashes. Where it does, accounts move across and nobody notices. Where it does not, we set up a reset flow and tell you before you pay so you can warn your customers.
Can you move my Shopify apps and plugins?
The apps themselves, no — they are built for Shopify and do not exist on BigCommerce. We will tell you which BigCommerce extension does the same job for each one that matters to you, and set it up as part of the move.
What happens to my Shopify store afterwards?
That is your call. Most people keep the Shopify subscription running for a month after the switch, as a safety net and a reference, then cancel it. We do not touch it either way — closing your old account is a decision with billing consequences and it is yours to make.
