These steps are for the Gmail app, which is on most Android phones. Any other mail app asks for the same things in the same order.
- Open Gmail, tap your picture in the top corner, then Add another account.
- Choose Other. ⛔ Not Google — that signs you into a Google account, which is not
where this mailbox lives.
- Type your full e-mail address and tap Next.
- Choose Personal (IMAP).
- Type the mailbox password and tap Next.
- Enter the incoming server name and port from your panel. The username is your **whole
address**.
- Enter the outgoing server name and port. Leave Require sign-in turned on and use the
whole address again.
Where your settings are. In the dashboard open Email, find the mailbox, and press Set up on a device. That panel shows the exact server names, ports and username for that mailbox, with a copy button beside each one.
⛔ Those names are not the same for every account — a reseller who sells our email under their own brand has their own — so use the ones on your panel rather than any you find in a forum or an old ticket. A name that is nearly right does not produce an error message; the mail app just sits there saying it cannot connect.
Choose IMAP, not POP. IMAP keeps the mailbox in step everywhere — read a message on your laptop and it is read on your phone too. POP downloads mail to one device and, on most default settings, removes it from the server, so the next device you set up finds an empty mailbox and the mail is only on whichever machine collected it first.
If it will not connect
- The most common cause is a username that is only the part before the
@.
- The second most common is the outgoing server with sign-in turned off. Mail then arrives but
will not send, which reads as two separate faults and is one.
- Check the password in webmail from the dashboard before changing anything else.
