The Zinn® Translate plugin
Serve a site in every language on its own address with correct hreflang, using translations Zinn Digital® has already made.
Zinn® Translate renders translations; it does not make them. The translating happens on our side, and this plugin puts the finished result on your site at a proper address with the right tags for search engines.
What you get
- Each language on its own URL —
/fr/about/,/de/about/and so on - Correct
hreflangtags, so Google shows the right language to the right person - A language switcher you can place in a menu or a widget
Setting it up
- Have the site connected to Zinn Digital® and its content translated — the Translation
- Install the plugin and open Settings → Zinn® Translate.
- List the languages you want to publish, comma separated:
fr, de, es. - Save. The plugin flushes WordPress's URL rules for you.
Status screen in your dashboard shows how far along each language is.
Publish nothing until a language is actually finished. A half-translated language served at its own URL is worse for your ranking than not serving it at all, because search engines index the mixed page.
Why the languages are a list you type
So you control what goes live. We may have finished twenty languages; you may only want three. Adding a language here is the publish decision, and removing it takes those URLs down cleanly.
If a translated URL 404s
Go to Settings → Permalinks and press Save — that reruns WordPress's rule flush, which a few caching and security plugins interfere with. If it still 404s, the language is probably not in the list on the plugin screen.
Deactivating
The plugin removes its URL rules on deactivation, so your site goes back to how it was rather than leaving broken translated URLs behind. Those URLs will already be indexed, so switching languages off is not free — do it deliberately.
