Move a website to your own server

Move a WordPress website onto a server that is yours alone, still managed from your panel. You pay only for the server, and you can move back within 7 days.

You can move a WordPress website from our shared servers onto a server that is yours alone, and keep managing it from this panel exactly as before: PHP versions, SSL certificates, backups, logs and everything else on the website's pages work the same way.

What it costs

You pay for the server only — the monthly price of the size you choose, shown in your currency before you pay (plus any tax). There is no extra fee and no licence to buy. Servers start at 2 cores and 4 GB of memory, because that is what a managed WordPress website needs to run well on its own.

Optional extras, such as LiteSpeed Enterprise, CloudLinux or Imunify360, can be added to the server later from the server's own page. They are never needed for the move.

How to move a website

  1. Open Sites, choose the website, then open Plan.
  2. In Move to your own server, choose a size and a location and press See the price.
  3. Nothing is charged at this point.

  4. Press Review and pay to pay for the server in the usual checkout.
  5. We build the server, set it up and copy the website onto it. The website keeps working the
  6. whole time.

How we make sure nothing breaks

Before any visitor is sent to the new server we check that it behaves exactly like the old one: the key pages render the same, every redirect (including the ones in your .htaccess file) answers the same way, and signing in to WordPress (wp-admin) works. If anything is different we do not move the website, tell you why, and refund the server.

Moving back

Your previous copy is kept for 7 days after the move. On day 6 we send you a reminder. Until then you can press Move back on the same card: the website moves back with every change you made in the meantime, and the server is removed and refunded. After the 7 days the move is final and the old copy is deleted.

Which websites can move

Managed WordPress websites that are live on our shared servers. A website that is already being moved, or whose account has a payment to settle, can move once that is done.
