The people you invoice

Saving client details once, what gets frozen onto an issued invoice, and why editing one is safe.

These are your records of the people and companies you bill. They are not accounts on this platform, and your client cannot log in with them — most of them will never know we exist.

Adding one

Either add a client here, or type the details while creating an invoice and have them saved for next time. The second route exists because you usually discover you need a client record at the moment you are trying to bill someone.

Keep the email address current: it is the one an invoice is emailed to.

Editing is safe

Changing a client's address changes what future invoices say. It does not rewrite an invoice you have already issued — those keep the details as they were on the day, because an issued invoice is a fixed record of a transaction and not a view of today's data.

So correcting a typo is safe, and moving a client to a new address does not quietly alter your filed paperwork.

Their own currency

A client carries a currency, and their invoices are issued in it. If you bill some clients in euros and others in pounds, set it per client once rather than remembering each time.

History

Each client shows every invoice you have raised for them, what is outstanding, and what they have paid. It is the fastest way to answer "have we invoiced them for that yet?".
