Footprint checker (in the sidebar) checks a set of your sites for the traces anyone can see that tie them to one owner, and tells you how to break each link.

What is checked

Every site you host with us, always, on every plan. Sites you host with other providers are included too once you add a site pack: open Sites, enter the domain and press Add site. Checks run on their own — monthly or weekly, depending on your plan — and Check now starts one whenever you have changed something.

Reading the score

The score is out of 100 for the whole set, with a grade from A to E. 100 means nothing we could see ties your sites together. Each finding costs more the more serious it is and the more of your sites it covers. The line under the score shows how it has moved between checks.

The four tabs

Risks lists every finding, most serious first. Open one to see which sites it involves, what it means and how to fix it; some have a button that takes you straight to the fix. Findings that come from our own platform are listed apart, under We are handling these — they are ours to fix and never lower your score.

Site pairs shows the two sites most closely tied together, strongest first. Choose a site to see everything it is tied to.

Sites shows what was read from each site on the last check, and your allowance of sites hosted elsewhere.

History lists every check, automatic or started by you.

Check-now runs

Your plan includes a number each month. Automatic checks never count, and a check that could not read any of your sites is not counted either. If an invoice is unpaid, automatic checks pause and pick up again once it is settled.
