What it is
An aged domain is bought for its past: the sites that link to it and the trust search engines have in it. That past can also be a liability — links bought from spam networks, years as a casino or pharmacy site, a penalty that took it out of Google. None of it shows on the domain's current home page.

Questions
What happens if part of a report cannot be read?
The report says which part is missing and leaves it out of the score — it is never counted as clean. If nothing at all can be read, your credit is returned.
Is the score a guarantee?
No. It is a reading of the domain's public history, with every reason shown, so you can judge it for what you want to build.
Do I have to own the domain?
No. Vetting is for domains you are thinking of buying — at auction, from a marketplace or from a seller.
Do credits expire?
No. A credit stays on your account until you use it.
