Let Thunderbird do it

1. Open Account Settings → Account Actions → Add Mail Account.
2. Type your name, your full e-mail address and the mailbox password.
3. Press Continue. Thunderbird asks us for the settings and fills them in.
4. Check IMAP is selected rather than POP, then press Done.

By hand

If the automatic settings do not appear, press Configure manually and enter the incoming and outgoing server names, ports and encryption from your panel. The username is your whole address on both.

Where your settings are. In the dashboard open Email, find the mailbox, and press Set up on a device. That panel shows the exact server names, ports and username for that mailbox, with a copy button beside each one.

⛔ Those names are not the same for every account — a reseller who sells our email under their own brand has their own — so use the ones on your panel rather than any you find in a forum or an old ticket. A name that is nearly right does not produce an error message; the mail app just sits there saying it cannot connect.

Choose IMAP, not POP. IMAP keeps the mailbox in step everywhere — read a message on your laptop and it is read on your phone too. POP downloads mail to one device and, on most default settings, removes it from the server, so the next device you set up finds an empty mailbox and the mail is only on whichever machine collected it first.
