The Mozilla clientConfig document for a domain, so Thunderbird configures itself from the address alone. Unauthenticated by protocol. It is about the provider, not the mailbox, and contains no address at all — which is what makes it safe to serve to an anonymous caller. ?domain= is accepted as well as ?emailaddress=, because Thunderbird's MX-derived lookup arrives with no address and that is the route needing no record in the customer's own zone.
