Extras & add-on services

The jobs you'd rather not do, bought in two clicks

Extras are first-party services we provide — database maintenance, speed optimisation, malware cleanup, managed migrations, audits and support. Some run themselves the moment you buy them. The rest land in a real queue with a named department behind them. Either way you buy them where you already manage your sites, in your own currency.

Services we provide, not a marketplace

Extras are the services Zinn Digital® performs for you. They are not third-party listings and they are not recurring plan add-ons that quietly change your entitlements — they are discrete pieces of work with a price, a scope and an outcome. You buy one, we do it, you get told when it's done.

Some are one-off: clean up a hacked site, run a performance audit, move a site across by hand. Others are recurring: managed updates, priority support, ongoing maintenance. The catalogue carries both, and each entry is priced accordingly.

This matters because the alternative is a support ticket that turns into a quote that turns into an invoice three days later. Extras collapse that into a purchase. The work is defined before you pay for it.

What's in the catalogue

The services below are the first-party extras the platform offers. Availability varies by product line, and each is priced individually in your currency.

Database maintenance & optimisation

Clean, optimise and repair tables on a database that has bloated over time — orphaned post meta, expired transients, overgrown revision tables, fragmented indexes. Runs as an automated job against your site.

Site speed optimisation

Caching configuration, image optimisation and tuning applied to a specific site. Where the platform can apply it automatically it does; where a site needs judgement, an engineer applies it.

Malware cleanup & hack repair

Remediation for a site that has been compromised. Real-time scanning, the proactive WAF and per-site isolation are included on every plan — cleanup and repair of an infected site is the service you buy on top.

Managed migration

A staff-run move for sites that self-service migration can't take cleanly — unusual stacks, awkward source hosts, or where you simply want somebody else to own the cutover.

SEO & performance audit

A reviewed assessment of a site's technical health and performance, delivered as a report you can act on rather than a dashboard reading you have to interpret.

SSL setup

Hands-on certificate work for the cases automatic provisioning doesn't cover — custom certificates, unusual chains, or specific edge requirements.

Managed updates

Ongoing core, plugin and theme updating handled for you, so a site that has to stay current doesn't depend on somebody remembering.

Priority & emergency support

Escalated routing for customers who need their tickets to land at the front of the queue, and emergency cover for when something is on fire outside your normal rhythm.

Two ways an extra gets done

Every extra in the catalogue is classified by fulfilment type, and that classification decides what happens the moment you pay.

Automated — instant, zero-touch

Purchase triggers a Temporal workflow or an AI action directly. Database maintenance runs the optimisation job; speed optimisation applies caching and image optimisation. Durable, retryable and idempotent, like every other long-running operation on the platform — nothing is left half-applied if a step fails.

Staff-fulfilled — a real queue, a real owner

Purchase creates a task in the admin queue, routed to the department that owns that kind of work — Support, Engineering/Ops, Onboarding, Abuse & Trust-and-Safety, and so on. The task carries status, its own SLA target from the catalogue, and pushes updates back to you as it moves.

The same lifecycle either way

Charge, fulfil, notify, mark complete. Every step emits an event, so the work is auditable end to end, and refunds and disputes are handled through the same billing brain as everything else you buy from us.

Paid for the way everything else is

Extras run on the same billing engine as your hosting plan. Prices are held per currency and rendered as stored values, not converted per request — so what you see is what you're charged, and it doesn't drift between the page and the checkout. Money is handled in integer minor units against an ISO currency throughout, because a rounding error on a customer's invoice is not a rounding error.

Payment comes from your card or your wallet balance. Credits from a downgrade, a refund or a proration sit in the wallet and can be spent on an extra directly — you don't need to move money back out to buy a service from us.

Purchases are org-scoped like every other record on the platform, and privileged actions are audit-logged with actor, action and target. If somebody on your team buys a service, the trail shows who, what and when.

Offered at the moment you actually need it

Extras live in a dedicated section of the dashboard you can browse at any time. But the useful ones tend to find you first, because the platform already knows the state of your sites.

  • A bloated database gets offered database maintenance — the signal comes from monitoring, not from you noticing.
  • A site failing Core Web Vitals gets offered speed optimisation, tied to the measurement that flagged it.
  • A site flagged by malware scanning gets offered cleanup, at the point the flag is raised rather than after the damage spreads.
  • A new signup with sites elsewhere gets offered managed migration during onboarding, when moving them is still a decision rather than a chore.
  • The AI assistant can suggest the right extra in context and initiate the purchase for you — the same assistant that already acts on your sites through the platform's tooling.
  • Nothing is bought without you agreeing to it. A contextual offer is an offer.

What you already have, so you don't buy it twice

We would rather tell you an extra is unnecessary than sell you one. These are included, on plans that carry them, at no additional cost.

  • Real-time malware scanning and the proactive WAF are included for everyone — they protect the fleet, so they are never optional.
  • Per-site isolation at the kernel and filesystem layers is included, containing a compromise inside the affected site's own cage rather than letting it spread.
  • Self-service migrations are free and automated — the managed migration extra exists for the cases that need a person, not as a toll on the normal path.
  • Daily backups with one-click restore, free SSL and the caching stack ship with the hosting itself.
  • Every extra is data in an admin-managed catalogue — title, description, pricing, product-line eligibility, fulfilment type, SLA and prerequisites — so services are added and adjusted as rows, not releases, and translated into all 58 languages like the rest of the platform.

FAQ

Do I need to buy an extra to keep my site secure?

No — baseline protection is included on every plan and is not something we hold back: real-time malware scanning, the proactive WAF, and per-site isolation at the kernel and filesystem layers. What you buy as an extra is remediation — cleaning up and repairing a site that has already been compromised. Isolation is designed to contain a breach to the site it happens on, which is a very different promise from claiming a breach can't happen.

What does an extra cost?

Prices are set per extra in the catalogue rather than fixed platform-wide, because a database optimisation and a hand-run migration are not the same piece of work. Each carries its own one-off or recurring price, held per currency and shown to you in yours. You see the price before you buy, in the Extras section of the dashboard.

How quickly is a staff-fulfilled extra completed?

Each extra carries its own SLA target, set on its entry in the catalogue, and the task created by your purchase is tracked against it with status updates pushed back to you. Because the target is per service rather than universal, the applicable one is stated on the extra itself — a malware cleanup and an SEO audit do not share a clock.

Are migrations free or paid?

Self-service migrations are free and automated — they run as a workflow that handles the transfer, search-replace, verification and DNS cutover, with rollback if something goes wrong. Managed migration is the paid extra: a staff-run move for stacks the automated path can't take cleanly, or for when you'd simply rather hand it over.

Can I use wallet credit to pay for an extra?

Yes. Extras are charged through the same billing engine as your subscription, and your wallet balance — top-ups, refunds, prorated credits from a downgrade — can be spent on them directly. Refunds and disputes on an extra go through the same process as any other purchase.

What happens if an automated extra fails part-way through?

Automated extras run as Temporal workflows, which are durable, retryable and idempotent by design. A failed step retries rather than leaving the job half-applied, and the outcome is recorded as an event either way — so a failure is visible and refundable, not silent.

Are extras available on every product line?

Product-line eligibility is a field on each extra in the catalogue, so the services offered to a Footprint-Free network and to a managed WordPress site are not necessarily identical. The Extras section of your dashboard shows what applies to your account rather than a generic list.
